A Little Leverage: 1950 Gibson SD
Published on Mon, 06/16/2014 - 1:26pm
Leslie Cunningham and his son Wendell, owners of this unique little tractor, are probably sick of the question “Where’s the steering wheel?” but that doesn’t mean it’s not a good question. The answer? The lever to right of the operator. Push it forward to turn left, pull it back to go right.
Eagle-eyed readers will also notice a rope and pulley on the front of the hood. Yup, no fancy crank or starter for this machine: A rope and pulley system works just fine to turn over the Gibson’s single-cylinder Wisconsin engine.
Leslie and Wendell show the pint-sized powerhouse throughout central Missouri at various machinery and collectibles shows as well as in various parades in the region.
