Purina Poultry is excited to announce this week's winner in the first-ever Flock-Tober® Fresh Egg Face-off Contest! Renee Woods of Conifer, Co., won the nationwide contest in the “Most Colorful Farm Fresh Eggs” category after competing against hundreds of egg photos from across the country. Renee has several chicken breeds in her backyard flock that produce a rainbow of colored eggs.
"I have the very best ladies," Renee says. "They provide for us and help us donate dozens of eggs every week to help feed the homeless in Denver. Here are the breeds of chickens that lay my colorful eggs, in order from left to right: White Leghorn, Buff Orpington, Ameraucana, Blue Andalusian, Black Cooper Marans, Olive Egger, Salmon Faverolles, Light Brown Leghorn, Blue Cooper Marans, Easter Egger and Plymouth Barred Rock.”
The Fresh Egg Face-off is a part of Purina Poultry’s annual Purina® Flock-Tober® festivities, which celebrate backyard hens and farm fresh eggs each fall. As the winner of this round, she will receive a Flock-Tober® Fun Box and now has a 1-in-3 chance to be named the winner of “Purina’s Fresh Eggs of the Year." Her winning entry will compete for the grand prize of a year’s supply of poultry feed on October 30.
The next contest category will be “Most Useful Eggs” which kicks off on the Purina Poultry Facebook page on Oct. 16. Visit to enter and join in the Flock-Tober® fun!
