Description
In order to maintain my marital harmony, a good German dish is necessary to balance the scales. This dish is an excellent one on its own, but is delicious with any meat dish. We like it with bratwurst and knockwurst on the grill.
Ingredients
| 3 | lb | Potatoes |
| 1⁄2 | lb | Bacon |
| 1 | c | onion (Diced) |
| 2 | T | flour |
| 1 | t | salt |
| 1⁄4 | t | Celery seed |
| 1⁄4 | t | pepper |
| 1⁄2 | c | Apple Cider Vinegar |
Instructions
Boil the potatoes, peel and cut into 1” pieces. Fry the bacon until crispy. Remove the bacon from the pan and add the onions. Cook the onions until soft. Add the flour and spices, cooking and stirring until smooth and bubbly, about 3 minutes. Do not allow the flour to brown too much. Remove from heat and stir in ¾ cup water, ½ cup vinegar. Return to heat, boil until bubbly. Stir in the potatoes and crumbled bacon.
